TheÂ Occupational TherapistÂ is responsible for the assessment of referred patients, ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric who are experiencing medically complex conditions or medical surgical conditions requiring rehabilitation and/or wound care needs.
TheÂ Occupational TherapistÂ duties include:Â
Assumes responsibility in the care of the patient.Â Performs complete, comprehensive evaluation of patients .Â
Accurately interprets evaluation findings.Â
Completes a written plan of care, develops goals based on evaluation findings, and develops a comprehensive program to attain goals.
Implements an occupational therapy treatment program and provides basic occupational therapy treatments.Â
Demonstrates competency in performing basic occupational therapy skills.Â Supervises COTA's and Rehab Technicians with regards to individual patient care treatments.Â
Assesses patients periodically to monitor progress towards treatment goals, and alters goals, plan or program as indicated.Â
Motivates and instructs patients/caregivers using appropriate methods.
Ensures safe care of patients while adhering to policies, procedures and standards, within budgetary specifications.Â
Demonstrates good basic skills in time management, supply management, productivity, and flexibility based on patient census and accuracy of practice.Â
Provides treatment in all areas of the department, which may include inpatient, outpatient, weekends and holidays.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, and skills competency.
Supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.Â
Assists in clinic education efforts, whether to patients, staff, hospital, system or the community
Perform additional duties assigned.

Knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance requirements and hospital policies and procedures
Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions. (order entry, data entry)
Education and/or Experience:Â
Graduate of an accredited school for Occupational Therapy.Â
At least six (6) months of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities.Â
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Â
Current license for Occupational Therapist in state of employment.Â
Must maintain current Provider CPR certification throughout employment.
